I chose to work on the Legacy Play Village project because I believe that while no one can do everything, everyone can do something— to help, to improve their community, to make a change. I have always been struck by the profound nature of Margaret Mead's oft-quoted observation: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

I chose to work on the Legacy Play Village project because I was involved in the initial build in 2002 and have continued to serve on the board. I don’t know another project that has been supported and used by the Lubbock area community like the Play Village has.

Bill Patton

Board Treasurer

I chose to work on the Legacy Play Village project because I was contacted by the original members who described the vision and need of this type of facility in our region. After seeing the initial designs and the determination of all the volunteers to make this happen, I was on board for getting it done. My wife and I have children whom I knew would take advantage of such an incredible playground. Knowing this village would attract families and groups from the entire West Texas region was another important factor in my determination to make this a reality. Seeing the absolute joy on the faces of the children playing in the park over the years has certainly made it clearly the right choice.

I choose to work on the Legacy Play Village project because…it’s special to me. My parents built a similar playground in my community and we had wonderful memories from it. I was able to help build Legacy when I was in college. Now I have a chance to rebuild our community playground for my son. I believe continuing to improve our community is the best way we can give back and make Lubbock a place we continue to be proud of.

Children are our future and having a place for them to enjoy and play as kids should is very important to me. I look forward to taking my future children to this play village an am honored to be a part of this project!

Stacy Harvey

I chose to work on the Legacy Play Village project because I feel it is important to give back to the community. I want a safe place for children to go and play. I am doing this in honor of my late husband, Cpl. D. Robert-Martin Harvey, Lubbock County Sheriff's Office, E.O.W. 4-26-2009. I currently serve on the board as secretary for the Metroplex Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S) and Co-Founder/President for South Plains Stars & Shields. It is an honor to be a part of the Legacy Play Village project.
